HERE'S A GREAT FUNDRAISING IDEA BROUGHT TO YOU BY A FELLOW HOOPS CITY ATHLETE:
William Whitley is getting creative about his sponsorships...take a look at what he is doing...
To get a jump start on fundraising for the AAU 2010 season we created an activity called “Can You Spare Pocket Change Today for a Basket Tomorrow”. We sent out a flyer to all prospective sponsors explaining how the funds would be used to receive professional basketball instruction as well as meet and compete against kids across the state and possibly the nation.
In order to raise the needed funds William has made some promises to his sponsors and has asked them to donate no more than $10 total. He plans on working very hard to get ready for His AAU season and has asked his sponsors to pledge 50 cents for every free throw made and 25 cents for every lay up made. Each day he works with his Dad and tracks his progress.
This activity allows the sponsor to tie their donation directly to a basketball skill that will ultimately make him a better player. Our family goal is to have half of the AAU costs will be paid by money received from fundraising. In just about two weeks we have over $285 in pledges and young Williman will probably have to spend his entire winter break at the gym shooting free throws and lay ups!
We hope this idea gives you inspiration and we wish you all Good luck!
